Sailing at Walter Payton is a co-ed sport and open to students of all grades. The team practices after school at Belmont Harbor from early September to mid-November and again from mid-March through the end of May. Because there are three different teams, Freshman/Sophomore, JV and Varsity, there is no experience requirement to try out. If you are interested in participating on the team, it is recommended that you attend one of the High School Pipeline sessions the week of August 7 or August 13. You can also try out for the team if you are unable to attend one of these week long camps. Tryouts will be August 23rd from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Chicago Yacht Club at Belmont Harbor. The team captains are juniors Owen Patterson (owen.s.patterson@gmail.com) and Liliana Taub (liltaub@gmail.com), the parent coordinator is Melissa Patterson (Melissa.patterson@comcast.net) and the team coach is Isaac Clark (420coach@chicagoyachtclub.org). Please feel free to reach out to any of these individuals for more information about the team.
