In its third year partnering with the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), Payton Prep is one of only 50 U.S. high schools chosen to receive the scholarships by donor Sheron Long and CIEE. Awards honor the schools’ commitment to developing global citizens and its enthusiasm for world language instruction.
These scholarships are intended to open the world to students, help them navigate across languages, connect with other cultures, and develop global competencies to thrive in today’s interconnected world. Global Navigator Scholarships earmark, at a minimum, $25,000 for Payton students to study abroad during the summer with CIEE.
Every year CIEE awards scholarships and grants for study abroad that total more than $4 million each year. Last year, twenty Payton students received $77,800 in Global Navigator Scholarships! Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who elect to apply to one of 30 CIEE Summer High School Abroad programs will be considered for the awards, based on both merit and need. Programs are in the summer and range from 3 to 4 weeks and include language/cultural immersion, community service, and varied academic programs including science and global entrepreneurship.
Important CIEE Deadlines:
- December 1: Deadline for students to submit online program and scholarship application (*75% of funds will be dispersed by this deadline; if you are applying for scholarships, we encourage you to apply by Dec 1st!)
- December 22: Scholarship and award notifications emailed
- February 15: Final application deadline
- June/July: Programs start
