Concordia Language Villages' Summer Villages Programs offer children and youth a powerful combination of world language immersion, new cultural experiences and summer camp fun. WorldChicago is recruiting 15-17 year old Chicago-area students to participate in the 4-week Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program this summer. This is a FREE program funded by the US State Department for students interested in traveling around the U.S, participated in the program last summer and would be glad to talk to any Payton students interested in applying. American Youth Leadership Program with Cambodia (AYLP) The American Youth Leadership Program (AYLP) is an exciting cross-cultural exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Youth Programs Division. This year’s AYLP with Cambodia, managed by Global Explorers, will bring together students and educators of diverse backgrounds from across the United States for a once in a lifetime 26-day expedition to Cambodia in June, 2012. The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad Program offers scholarships to American high school students to spend a semester or an academic year in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mali, Morocco, Oman, Thailand, and Turkey. This post 9/11 program focuses on increasing understanding between people in the U.S. and countries with significant Muslim populations. The application deadline is January 11, 2012.
