ScienceThe mission of the science department is to develop leaders who will build and mold an increasingly technical society. We therefore imbue in students an appreciation of the wonders of the natural world through hands-on experiences, excite in students intellectual hunger for knowledge by guiding them in the process of scientific inquiry, and foster in students, through repeated applications to real-world situations, the analytical, critical-thinking, and communication skills which will serve them over a lifetime of personal and professional challenge. SCIENCE DEPT NEWS2.25.08 - Early this month students throughout the country took the 2008 Physics Olympiad Qualifying Exam, and three Payton students were among the top 415 scorers nationally. Those students--Adam Kornick, Daping Weng, and Alex Zorn--will now compete in the quarterfinal exam from which the top 150 students will proceed to the next stage toward the selection of the US Physics Team, which will represent the United States in the International Olympiad this summer. 2.07.08 - CJ Hughes, Michael Maguire, Michael Sarchet and Peyton Morgan finished 1st, 3rd, 8th, and 9th in the 33rd annual bridge building contest. CJ will compete in the international competition to be held April 26th. |
