Information Technology I

This course covers basic and advanced features of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Also covered are the components of a computer and how they work together to load the operating system, create files and store data. The Internet will be used to research related topics. This course fulfills one of the five required elective classes. Open to all grade levels



Introduction to Computer Science

This course covers a wide variety of computer science components such as logic, algorithms, loops and data structures. Other topics include the history of computer science, computer architecture and ethical issues. Proper programming techniques will be emphasized and the Java language will be introduced. This class is the prerequisite for the Advanced Placement Computer Science course. The prerequisite for this course is enrollment in or completion of Algebra II.



Web Design, Graphics, and Internet Concepts

This class is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to build creative, interactive, and well-designed web pages. Students will balance technical skills with artistic skills to create web pages that are conceptually interesting, easily navigable, visually pleasing, and functional. Students will learn the language and structure of HTML and CSS and how to use Adobe Photoshop and Image ready as design tools. This is a beginning level class, but self-motivated advanced students are welcome. Prerequisite: Art I



AP Computer Science A

This course emphasizes fast-paced modern programming methodologies with a concentration on problem solving, algorithm development, and object-oriented programming with Java. Students are expected to take the AP exam in Computer Science. For more information, students are encouraged to visit the collegeboard.com website for a course outline. Advanced approval must be obtained from Mr. Boehle. Prerequisite: Advanced Algebra Trig
