CollegeSpring FairDear Parents & Students this is a reminder that the college fair will take place
on Monday April 21st from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Von Steuben Metro Science Center,
located at 5039 N. Kimball. Parking is available at North Park University
(Kimball entrance) and Von Steuben (North parking lot). Juniors & Sophmores College NightCollege Night will be held on the evening of Monday, April 21st at Von Steuben High School. Approximately 130 colleges and universities will be in attendance. Further information will be provided when available. r /> PSAE/ACT Exam2008 PSAE Schedule (pdf) The exam will be administered to all juniors on Wednesday, April 23rd and Thursday, April 24th at Walter Payton College Prepatory High School. All juniors are automatically registered for the exam and there is no charge. In the next high school mailing, parents will receive information regarding this exam and it's purpose. Purdue University's Women in Engineering ProgramJuniors and parents are encouraged to attend. Event date: A[ril 14, 2008. Deadline to register: April 4, 2008. Register online here. All questions: Dawn Mikels at 765-494-3889. ACT REVIEWBeginning January 2008, there are three different ACT review sessions available to juniors at Walter Payton. Students have the option of signing up for one or more of these sessions. Those registering are expected to make the commitment to attend every class. Listed below, (in no particular order of preference), are the three options: Option I: Walter Payton teachers will also be offering ACT review sessions on Wednesdays starting January 23, 2008 (the 12th session will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 rather than Wednesday, April 16, 2008.) The Wednesday course will meet from 3:00p.m.to 5:15p.m.and will consist of three 40 minute classes in English, Math, and Science. The Wednesday classes will run for 12 weeks. If there is room, students may also sign up for the Monday sessions. Option II: Walter Payton teachers will be offering Act Review on Mondays from 3:00p.m. – 5:15p.m. The Monday classes will focus on a specific subject area for each meeting. Students may sign up for all the Monday sessions or only for those of a particular subject area for which they feel they need help. There will be a total of 8 Monday review sessions, with the first review class beginning January 28, 2008. Following is the schedule for the program: English/Reading: 1/28, 3/10 & 4/7 Math: 2/4, 3/24 & 4/14 Science: 2/25 & 3/31 Option III: Beginning January 16, 2008 the Kaplan ACT Review will be taught at Payton on Wednesdays. Classes will normally run from 3:15p.m. – 5:45p.m.; however, on four days they will run from 3:15p.m. - 7:15p.m. for pre, post and practice ACT exams. These review sessions will be taught by Kaplan staff members and will have tuition of $559.00. In the event of a student absence, students may take makeup classes at Kaplan's downtown location. To enroll in this class, call 1-800-527-8378. All of the Option I and Option II sessions are available to Walter Payton Students at a nominal fee of $50.00 ($10.00 for free/reduced lunch students). All students with a 75% or better attendance rate will receive a refund of the fee. There is a limited amount of space, and students will be enrolled in the classes on a first come first serve basis. Students with questions about these programs are encouraged to see Ms. Whitley, in Student Services, Room 109 or Mr. Paulsen in the Media Center.
