Tutoring Help for Payton Students Available from "Harvols"
Walter Payton College Prep is fortunate to have been "adopted" by The Harvard Club of Chicago. Its Harvard Volunteer (Harvol) program Harvard Club of Chicago, offers Walter Payton students, parents and teachers a tremendous additional resource by providing free individual tutoring for most students who request help.
Harvols usually are available to help students with general math, algebra, geometry, algebra II/trigonometry, calculus, general science, biology, chemistry, physics, English, French, Spanish, Latin, Japanese, writing and communication skills, economics, world studies, and general study skills.
A student may request tutoring assistance by signing on to the Harvol.org website and completing a form on which he or she can indicate the area for which help is desired. After the information has been submitted, the student will receive a login and password that can be used to update the request for assistance or access other information on the site as needed.
Harvol Coordinators for each area then select a tutor that best matches the students' needs. A student usually can expect to hear from the prospective tutor within a week unless there is a shortage of a particular type of tutor (which happens from time to time - particularly in physics, higher-level math, and some non-English languages).
If a student has not heard from a prospective tutor in a week to ten days, he/she should contact the appropriate Tutoring Coordinator or the Overall Tutoring Coordinator for assistance. The list of Coordinators is available on the Harvol website, and can be accessed using the login and password provided.
