Mrs. Capeless holds a Professional Educator License with an endorsement in School Social Work. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC). She earned her Masters in Social Work at Colorado State University, her Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Denver Family Institute and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Georgia. In addition to working as a School Social Worker with students of all ages in several school districts, Mrs. Capeless has worked as a Family Therapist in community agencies, nonprofits and private practices, all in which she primarily served adolescents and their families. As Walter Payton's School Social Worker, Mrs. Capeless is committed to supporting the social and emotional needs of Payton students through the provision of special education services per 504 and Individual Education Plans (IEP) as well as by implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to serve all students. Such services may include the following interventions: counseling students individually and in small groups; consulting and collaborating with school staff and community partners; connecting students and families with resources and programs; assessing and supporting students during crises; developing and leading school-wide social and emotional learning initiatives; and facilitating and/or co-teaching social emotional lessons during Enrichments and/or in classes. Mrs. Capeless is at Payton on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as she is at her other assigned school on Tuesdays and Fridays.
