Counseling Department

The Walter Payton College Prep Counseling Department  provides a comprehensive counseling program that attends to the personal/social, academic, and career preparation/college planning needs of all students. Services include individual and group counseling,  classroom guidance, academic support, crisis intervention, and postsecondary planning. Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyle choices, appreciation for differences, a life-long appreciation for  learning, personal and academic growth, and to aid students in becoming responsible, productive members of society. This foundation will be supported and further strengthened by consultation with educators, administrators, parents, and members of the community. We are dedicated to meet the standards and competencies outlined by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA). The national model includes programming in the academic, personal/social and career education domains.

Counseling Hours: Counselors are available for student appointments during student lunch periods between 10 and 1 pm. Parents can meet with counselors throughout the day from 8:00 to 3:30 pm. Parents should call or email counselor to schedule an appointment.
