Volunteer

Parents and guardians are an

essential part of Payton activities.

From our fall Open House to the faculty lunch in June, there are dozens of ways to help. You can volunteer for one-time tasks or ongoing roles throughout the school year. FOP asks each Payton family to contribute 10 volunteer hours per school year.

Our most urgent needs are highlighted here, and a roster or recurring activities appears at the bottom of this page. Please email FOPvolunteering@gmail.com to help. Thank you.

Upcoming Volunteer Needs

Annual Appeal

Our largest fundraiser of the school year kicks off this month! To help as a fundraising captain for our Annual Appeal, please contact Chris Killackey.

AmazonSmile

Reporters Wanted

Payton Community News is in need of parent-guardian reporters. It's a fun way to contribute at Payton while staying well-informed.

Beats in need of reporters are:

Local School Council: Attend and report on monthly meetings

Clubs: Report on interesting activities student clubs are involved in, and share how other students can participate.

Music: Report on choir, band and all things musical.

Sports: Let us know if you can provide content, particularly photos, on a sport not currently covered.

If interested, email Marc Harper at fopnewslettereditor@gmail.com.

Register with CPS as a Payton Volunteer

Chicago Public Schools requires all adults helping with any school activity to complete a volunteer application. Please apply online as a Level 2 volunteer with CPS. The Level 2 application only takes 5 minutes to fill out and will cover you for your child's remaining years at Payton. (Please note, Level 1 clearance is typically unnecessary, unless you're chaperoning an overnight field trip or volunteering to coach a team.)

1. Complete an online application to become a CPS Level 2 Volunteer

2. Submit a picture of your photo ID online via this site or bring a copy to Payton's Main Office

For questions or problems with your volunteer application, please email Payton's volunteer coordinator at volunteer@wpcp.org.

A Year of Volunteer Opportunities!

Below we have listed some of the main events and tasks that parents and guardians help with throughout the year. Some provide a chance to work with other Payton parents and guardians, some involve working with the administration, and some can be done whenever and wherever you want.  They all contribute to supporting our kids, teachers, and administrators.

Let us know how you would like to help. Email FOP.
